Who else is a huge fan of hummus? I LOVE hummus. I could eat half a container in just one sitting. It is the perfect dip, the perfect topping, and all around the perfect addition to a healthy diet. Hummus traditionally is made from Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans) and Tahini paste. I stuck to this base and added some of my favorite ingredients to jazz this recipe up. The best part is that the options are essentially endless when it comes to homemade hummus. You can add an assortment of ingredients to tailor it to your taste. As a garlic lover, I packed this recipe with garlic and the result is a knock-your-socks-off flavor - so good!!

The easiest part of this recipe is that everything goes directly into the food processor. The food processor does all of the handwork, and in return, makes an incredible, savory, and healthy bean dip that will leave you wanting more.

First, drain a 16 oz can of Chickpeas/ Garbanzo Beans. Save the drained liquid for later use and empty beans into food processor. Next, add your garlic, tahini paste, olive oil, lemon juice, and herbs and spices. Puree in food processor until well blended - this is when you will want to use the drained chickpea liquid - as the food processor blends, slowly pour a small amount of the liquid into the food processor (this will help with creating a smooth, creamy texture). I use roughly 1/4 cup of the liquid when all is said and done. Depending on batch, some may need more liquid to reach desired smoothness, and some may need less.

Garlic and Herb Hummus Recipe:
1- 16 oz. can Chickpeas/ Garbanzo Beans
1/4 Cup drained Chickpea Liquid (from 16 oz. can)
1/2 Cup Tahini Paste
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
3 Cloves of Garlic
1-1/2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Turmeric
1 tsp Ground Cumin
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp Curry Powder
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
What I love about this recipe is that it is versatile - you can adjust spices and herbs to your liking. Also, if you need hummus inspiration, or are feeling adventurous, browse your local grocery store hummus section and see what concoctions you can make with some very basic ingredients.
